Deuces Wild Appendix 3

Introduction

Normally in full pay deuces wild video poker when the player has the choice of keeping either (1) suited 10 and king with straight penalty card, and (2) nothing, the best play is to discard everything. For example take the following hand:

Normally in situations like this the best play is to discard everything because of 9 reduces the probability of forming a straight. However, this particular play is one of the exceptions, and it is better to keep the two to a royal flush, king high, despite the 9 straight penalty card. Following is a list of all such exceptions. The exceptions are first listed according to the straight penalty card (either 9 or ace) and how the three other cards are suited with each other. Then the exceptions are sub-grouped by which card is suited with the king. Finally, two-card combinations are listed in which the player should keep the two suited high cards.
