Blackjack expected Returns for two decks and dealer stands on soft 17.


Following are the expected returns for each initial hands in blackjack under the following rules.

  • Two decks
  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Player may resplit to four hands, except aces
  • No drawing to split aces

There are three tables, the first for when the player has two cards of different ranks and no dealer blackjack, the second when the player has two cards of the same rank and no dealer blackjack, and the third for when the dealer has a blackjack. In the second table there are two columns for splitting, one in which the player may double after a split and the other in which the player may not.

The values in this table were created using a recursive combinatorial program that considered the exact hand composition at every step. For splitting values the program only considered how many hands the player had already split, but not the other cards drawn in those hands.
