Introduction

A Recap of Games from Week 7 of the 2019-2020 NFL Season

This was an extremely predictable week of football in the National Football League. I love watching how each week reveals a whole more about each team as they face a different challenge. Below will not only keep you up to date about everything that happened in week 7 of the NFL schedule, but it should inform you of all the recent injuries, moves, and other issues involved in the world of professional football.

Broncos (2-5, 1-3 Home)  6

The Kansas City Chiefs bounced back and won a game after losing two in a row, but it was a great cost to them. Their starting quarterback as well as the MVP of the NFL last season, Patrick Mahomes, was injured around half way through this game. His MRI revealed that he will miss at least 3 weeks due to his knee injury which was the best case scenario for this leg issue. The Chiefs defense played better Mahomes’ absence. The Green Bay Packers will be a true test for Kansas City this upcoming Sunday Night Football game. The Denver Broncos continue to play poorly only scoring 6 points in the first quarter of this contest.

Week 8 Games

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts

Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs (SNF)

The Los Angeles Rams broke their 3 game losing streak as they beat the struggling Atlanta Falcons. These results came just a few days after the Rams retooled their secondary by trading away Marcus Peters and acquiring Jalen Ramsey in another trade on the same day. Jared Goff had a good game, and the Atlanta Falcons got worse as they lost their starting quarterback in Matt Ryan to injury.

Week 8 Games

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons

Cincinnati Bengals at Los Angeles Rams

The Buffalo Bills were able to use the turnovers they got to score a lot of last quarter points in order to defeat the winless Miami Dolphins. Josh Allen has continuously been leading the Bills to wins, and they are actually one of the better teams in the very average AFC.

Week 8 Games

Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills

Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers (MNF)

FINAL

Jaguars  (3-4, 2-2 Away)  27

Bengals  (0-7, 0-3 Home) 17

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a great performance from their defense to help them ensure that the Cincinnati Bengals would remain winless so far this season. The Jaguars picked off Andy Dalton three times in the fourth quarter and one of those interceptions was a pick 6. Jacksonville played just well enough not to lose to the Bengals as they scored 18 of their 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Week 8 Games

Cincinnati Bengals at Los Angeles Rams

New York Jets at Jacksonville Jaguars

FINAL

Vikings  (5-2, 2-2 Away) 42

Lions (2-3-1, 1-2 Home) 30

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

RUSH

Dalvin Cook - MIN

REC

Stefon Diggs - MIN

7 REC, 142 YDS

The Minnesota Vikings have now gotten back to being the team that most people thought they were prior to the 2019 – 2020 NFL season, an NFC contender. Their defense looks great. Kirk Cousins is getting the ball to his big weapons in order for them to make big plays. They are now 5-2 and seem to be one of the better teams in the NFC as they destroyed the Detroit Lions last Sunday. Dalvin Cook is continuously having a possible MVP season as he once again rushed for well over 100 yards as well as 2 touchdowns. They should continue their winning this week as they play the one win Redskins at home on Thursday Night Football.

Week 8 Games

New York Giants at Detroit Lions

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings (TNF)

FINAL

Raiders  (3-3, 1-2 Away) 24

Packers (6-1, 4-1 Home) 42

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

Aaron Rodgers - GB

25-31, 429 YDS, 5 TD

RUSH

Josh Jacobs - OAK

21 CAR, 124 YDS

REC

Marquez Valdes-Scantling - GB

2 REC, 133 YDS, 1 TD

This game can be easily summarized by two factors. First of all, the Oakland Raiders made several really bad mistakes by turning what should have been a touchdown into a turnover. The second of the two major aspects of this game were that Aaron Rodgers had possibly the best NFL performance of his illustrious career in the National Football League. Rodgers passed for 429 yards, he threw 5 touchdown passes, and he ran the ball into the end zone for another touchdown. This game could have been much more competitive if Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders did not turn the ball over in the red zone several times especially early on in the contest.

Week 8 Games

Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans

Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs (SNF)

FINAL

Texans  (4-3, 2-2 Away)  23

Colts     (4-2, 2-1 Home) 30

TOP PERFORMERS

RUSH

Marlon Mack - IND

18 CAR, 44 YDS

REC

Zach Pascal - IND

6 REC, 106 YDS, 2 TD

Jacoby Brissett had a wonderful game against the very dangerous Houston Texans. He threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns. His quarterback rating was an outstanding 126.7. Brissett did have a low completion percentage for how good he threw the football due to 6 of his incompletions being throw away passes to avoid sacks, inceptions, injuries, or other bad results that come when a QB tries to force something out of nothing. Indianapolis is starting to look one of the elite teams in the weaker AFC.

Week 8 Games

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts

Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans

FINAL

Cardinals  (3-3-1, 2-1 Away) 27

Giants         (2-5, 1-3 Home) 21

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

Daniel Jones - NYG

RUSH

Chase Edmonds - ARI

27 CAR, 126 YDS, 3 TD

REC

Golden Tate - NYG

6 REC, 80 YDS

The headlines heading into this game were around the return of running back Saquon Barkley to the New York Giants or the battle between top rookie quarterbacks in Daniel Jones and Kyler Murray, but the biggest story of this game was a dominant performance by a back up running back. The Arizona Cardinals back up running back, Chase Edmonds, racked up 126 yards on the ground to go along with his 3 rushing touchdowns as the Cardinals topped the Giants in a close game from MetLife Stadium last Sunday.

Week 8 Games

New York Giants at Detroit Lions

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints

FINAL

49ers      (6-0, 4-0 Away)  9

Redskins (1-6, 0-4 Home) 0

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

12-21, 151 YDS, 1 INT

RUSH

Adrian Peterson - WSH

Kendrick Bourne - SF

3 REC, 69 YDS

This was a match up of the team with the best record in the NFC in the San Francisco 49ers versus the team with the worst record in the NFC in the Washington Redskins. To top it all off it was a very interesting game due just to the impact of the weather during and leading up to game time. The intense rain caused the field to be flooded, and these two teams were playing on a slippery, muddy, and very unstable field. This was a sloppy game that the San Francisco 49ers won due to the play of their defense. The Niners continued their undefeated 2019 – 2020 NFL season as the Washington Redskins keep slipping down the standings as one of the worst football teams in the league.

Week 8 Games

Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings (TNF)

FINAL

Chargers  (2-5, 1-2 Away)  20

Titans      (3-4, 1-2 Home)   23

RUSH

Derrick Henry - TEN

22 CAR, 90 YDS, 1 TD

REC

Austin Ekeler - LAC

7 REC, 118 YDS, 1 TD

This was a close game between two very below average teams at this point in the season. The Tennessee Titans squeaked out a win at home over the struggling Los Angeles Chargers. Not too much to highlight in this game other than the fact the Chargers had plenty of opportunity to win it, but they were unable to do so.

Week 8 Games

Los Angeles Chargers at Chicago Bears

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Tennessee Titans

FINAL

Saints  (6-1, 3-1 Away)  36

Bears  (3-3, 1-2 Home)  25

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

Teddy Bridgewater - NO

23-38, 281 YDS, 2 TD

RUSH

Latavius Murray - NO

27 CAR, 119 YDS, 2 TD

REC

Michael Thomas - NO

9 REC, 131 YDS

The New Orleans Saints continue to roll without their starting quarterback, Drew Brees. Teddy Bridgewater had another great game even without the services of his superstar running back, Alvin Kamara, as well as his reliable tight end Jared Cook. The Chicago Bears seemed to struggle mightily as their starting quarterback, Mitch Trubisky, is continuing to prove he is probably not the answer for the Chicago Bears at the QB position. The final score was not indicative of how badly the Bears got beat at home. The Saints gave up 15 points to Chicago late in the game when they had all but wrapped up the win at that point.

Week 8 Games

Los Angeles Chargers at Chicago Bears

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints

FINAL

Ravens      (5-2, 3-1 Away)  30

Seahawks  (5-2, 2-2 Home) 16

TOP PERFORMERS

RUSH

Lamar Jackson - BAL

14 CAR, 116 YDS, 1 TD

REC

Tyler Lockett - SEA

5 REC, 61 YDS, 1 TD

The Baltimore Ravens easily secured this win against the Seattle Seahawks due to their defense and the running ability of their young and exciting quarterback, Lamar Jackson. The Ravens are looking like a powerhouse team that should easily make the playoffs due to the weak division they play within. The Seattle Seahawks should bounce back just fine as they play the bad Atlanta Falcons this upcoming Sunday.

Week 8 Games

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons

Baltimore Ravens – Bye Week

FINAL

Eagles     (3-4, 1-3 Away)  10

Cowboys  (4-3, 3-1 Home) 37

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

Dak Prescott - DAL

21-27, 239 YDS, 1 TD

RUSH

Ezekiel Elliott - DAL

22 CAR, 111 YDS, 1 TD

REC

Amari Cooper - DAL

5 REC, 106 YDS

The Dallas Cowboys completely dismantled the Philadelphia Eagles in front of the nation on Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys used their weapons as they should to put up a lot of points on the Eagles. Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Amari Cooper all had superior performances allowing Dallas to beat up on their divisional opponents. If the Philadelphia Eagles lose again next week in Buffalo their season will seem to have faded away although this NFL season is only half way over.

Week 8 Games

Dallas Cowboys – Bye Week

Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills

FINAL

Patriots (7-0, 4-0 Away)  33

Jets      (1-5, 1-3 Home)   0

TOP PERFORMERS

PASS

Tom Brady - NE

31-45, 249 YDS, 1 TD

RUSH

Le'Veon Bell - NYJ

15 CAR, 70 YDS

REC

James White - NE

7 REC, 59 YDS

This was a devastating game for the New York Jets. They were far from expected to win this contest against the undefeated New England Patriots, but they were expecting to see some improvements from their team coming off of a win last week versus the Dallas Cowboys.

The Jet’s starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, looked horrible as he spent Monday night throwing off of his back foot and throwing interception after interception to the Patriots amazing defensive secondary. During this event Darnold had been heard saying on television that he was “seeing ghosts” as Sam was mic’ed up for the Monday Night Football game. The Jets are a far way off from being a good team while the New England Patriots seem to be well on their way once again to another Super Bowl appearance.

Week 8 Games

New York Jets at Jacksonville Jaguars

Cleveland Brown at New England Patriots
