Introduction

Since it launched in Costa Rica in 2001, BetOnline has been one of the more reputable sportsbooks that services the American sportsbetting market, as they provide excellent management, timely payment of winnings, and odds that are competitive with other sportsbooks offering action on major sports. Today the company is based in Panama and has several hundred employees, and the firm recently revamped its website, providing casino, poker, and skill based games as well as their traditional sports offering. If you’re looking for a spot to get some action in at, you’ll be hard pressed to find a site that offers all of the services with the stability that BetOnline brings.

Sports

BetOnline has a good variety of sports to bet and the usual bets on those sports. The odds offered are about average for the industry. Here are some examples.

• NFL — 20-cent lines, money lines, totals (all bets available on both the first half and game).
• MLB — 10-cent money lines, 20-cent run lines & totals, 30-cent totals on each team, 20-cent everything in first 5 innings
• WNBA — 20-cent spreads, money lines, and totals
• NASCAR — 30-cent money lines
• Formula 1 — 30-cent money lines
• Tennis (WTA) — 20-cent money lines
• Cricket (T20) — 20-cent money lines
• Golf — 20-cent money lines
• MMA — 20-cent money lines
• Rugby (ITM Cup) — 20-cent money lines

The 20-cent money lines you see in most sports are standard. In obscure sports, for betting purposes, they have 30-cent lines, which is normal. I applaud the 10-cent money lines in Major League Baseball, but that is standard too.

BetOnline seems to put a big emphasis on soccer and takes bets on games all over the world. Assuming each bet has the same house edge on a given game, I took an average house over several games in different leagues. The following list shows this average house edge by the country the game was played in.

• Argentina — 7.39%
• Belgium — 7.59%
• Brazil — 7.94%
• China — 10.76%
• Columbia — 10.62%
• Mexico — 7.38%
• USA — 7.37%

Soccer betting is not my area of expertise, but I expect that the better values on the leagues that get more action.

Racebook

At the time I wrote this review BetOnline was taking bets on seven different tracks around the United States. They offer a 7% rebate on all resolved race bets made online and 4% over the phone. Please keep in mind the house edge on racing bets is about 17% in win, place, and show bets, and goes up from there on the exotic bets.

Electronic Casino

BetOnline offers casino games by Betsoft. Briefly, Betsoft is a software provider of casino game to many Internet casinos and sports books. Their graphics are outstanding. The rules and odds are generally standard and average in generosity.

Live Casino

The Live Casino offers blackjack, Blackjack Unlimited (whatever that is), Casino Hold 'Em, roulette, and baccarat.

Poker

BetOnline seemed to have a whole whose of poker tournaments and promotions going on. You poker players should take a look yourself to see what is going on. The choices seemed overwhelming to me.
