Jason Pierre – Paul of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Undergoes Left Knee Surgery
Introduction
On Wednesday, February 24th, 2021 the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ superstar outside linebacker, Jason Pierre – Paul, underwent a surgical procedure on his left knee. This operation was necessary to relieve some discomfort that Pierre – Paul was experiencing throughout the 2020 – 2021 season of the National Football League.
Similar Operation Last July
Apparently, this left knee has been seriously bothering Jason over the course of the last couple years as the 32 – year – old NFL Pro Bowler had a very similar operation not too long ago. In July of 2020 Pierre – Paul underwent an arthroscopic left knee surgery so that a surgeon could clean up cartilage in that left knee area for the purpose of alleviating pain as well as combating the constricted movement of his lower left extremity.
Playing through the Injury
During the course of the grueling 2020 – 2021 season of the National Football League this outside defensive threat for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers found himself on the injury report quite often in regard to this left knee. Pierre – Paul is a tough beast of a man for fighting through the pain and discomfort of this ailment to not miss a single game throughout the 2020 – 2021 NFL season as well as contributing at a very high level on game day for the Bucs.
Pierre – Paul ended up finishing the 2020 – 2021 NFL season with a team high 9.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, and a career high 4 forced fumbles. Jason’s presence as well as impact was definitely felt during the NFL playoffs last year. During the NFC Championship game against the NFL’s MVP in Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers Pierre – Paul recorded two extremely big sacks which inevitably helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers advance to Super Bowl LV.
He also was a big part of the pressure packages dialed up against Patrick Mahomes and the potent Kansas City Chiefs’ offense in Super Bowl LV which ultimately were quite effective as the Buccaneers blew the Chiefs out in that match up. Hopefully for the veteran pass rushing outside linebacker he can play through the upcoming 2021 – 2022 NFL season with a more stable and less painful left knee as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to defend their Super Bowl title.
