Introduction

A Recap of Games from Week 9 of the 2019-2020 NFL Season

After nine weeks of football from the National Football League we still do not know a lot about who are the best and worst teams. This past week contradicted what the happened the week before. This season is very unpredictable and with so many mediocre teams anyone can win the Super Bowl this February.

The San Francisco 49ers were led by another great performance of Jimmy Garoppolo as they won once again to remain undefeated. They are the only undefeated team left in the NFL after the New England Patriots lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Garoppolo had 317 passing yards as well as 4 touchdown throws. Their new addition at the wide receiver position Emmanuel Sanders has been an amazing pick up for the Niners in his first game or so with his new team. Arizona played them close but they came up just a few points short in the end.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (MNF)

The Houston Texans completely outplayed the Jacksonville Jaguars in this game played in London. Deshaun Watson had another spectacular game as he escaped sacks and made plays with his legs as well as his arm. The Jaguars struggled to score as they were only able to get three points off a field goal prior to half time of the game. Carlos Hyde was an excellent rusher as he racked up 160 yards on the ground in this impressive win for the Houston Texans.

The Buffalo Bills beat another very bad team in the Washington Redskins. This game was not very entertaining, and did not deliver on any great football performances. Josh Allen did enough for the Bills to win while the Redskins started their rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins which earned him his first NFL loss as a starting quarterback. It looks like this loss can be one of many for him in the future.

Week 10 Games

Washington Redskins – Bye Week

Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns

REC

Tyreek Hill - KC

6 REC, 140 YDS, 1 TD

The Kansas City Chiefs played well enough to win without their best player in the injured Patrick Mahomes. The 44 yard field goal by Harrison Butker was the exciting winning score for the Chiefs. Tyreek Hill showed off his amazing speed downfield as he racked up 140 yards through the Chief’s air attack. Damien Williams took care of the run game by putting up 125 yards and a touchdown run on only 12 carries. The Minnesota Vikings played well enough to stay in the game, but they came up a little short in this one.

Week 10 Games

Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans

Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys (SNF)

Congratulations to the Miami Dolphins for getting their first win of the 2019 – 2020 NFL season. Ryan Fitzpatrick played pretty well as he finished the game with 288 yards passing and three touchdown strikes. The New York Jets are a total mess, and they seem to be getting worse and not better whatsoever. Sam Darnold continued to struggle and it is apparent his throwing mechanics are really bad still. The Jets may be fighting with the Dolphins and Bengals this season to have the worst record earning them the number overall draft selection in the 2020 NFL draft.

Week 10 Games

Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts

New York Giants at New York Jets

FINAL

Bears (3-5, 2-2 Away) 14

Eagles (5-4, 3-1 Home) 22

RUSH

Jordan Howard - PHI

19 CAR, 82 YDS, 1 TD

REC

Zach Ertz - PHI

9 REC, 103 YDS, 1 TD

The Chicago Bears continued to play horrible offensively especially in the first half of the ball game. The Philadelphia Eagles bounced back and are seeming to look better with the football. Tight end, Zach Ertz, had over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. Mitch Trubisky had another really poor performance, and the fans in Chicago are starting to lose patients and demand changes as the Bears were considered to be Super Bowl contenders entering this NFL season.

Week 10 Games

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

Philadelphia Eagles – Bye Week

FINAL

Colts (5-3, 2-2 Away) 24

Steelers (4-4, 3-2 Home) 26

RUSH

Marlon Mack - IND

21 CAR, 89 YDS

REC

Zach Pascal - IND

5 REC, 76 YDS, 1 TD

The Indianapolis Colts lost this game on a late field goal miss by their place kicker, Adam Vinatieri. He has been known to be the best kicker ever in the NFL, but he has struggled this season and may be time for him to retire from the game. The Pittsburgh Steelers have turned around their season as it seemed hopeless for the Steelers after the first quarter of the season. They are now 4 and 4 are seem to be playing more confident football. The pick up safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick, has been paying off as he had a 96 yard interception return for a touchdown in this win for Pittsburgh.

Week 10 Games

Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts

Los Angeles Rams at Pittsburgh Steelers

FINAL

Titans (4-5, 2-3 Away) 20

RUSH

Christian McCaffrey - CAR

24 CAR, 146 YDS, 2 TD

REC

DJ Moore - CAR

7 REC, 101 YDS

The Carolina Panthers had another good win at home as they were led by their superstar running back, Christian McCaffrey. He had 146 rushing yards as well as 2 touchdown runs to help the Panthers beat the very average Tennessee Titans. The Panthers will be tested next week when they face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field who are coming off a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. I will be looking forward to watching that match up next weekend.

Week 10 Games

Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers

Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans

RUSH

Josh Jacobs - OAK

28 CAR, 120 YDS, 2 TD

REC

Kenny Golladay - DET

4 REC, 132 YDS, 1 TD

The Oakland Raiders played their first true home game in seven weeks, and they put on a nice show for their fans. Derek Carr connected on a touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow with only a couple of minutes left in the game. Karl Joseph broke up a touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford in the end zone on fourth down with only a couple seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Raiders. Despite the outstanding performance by Matthew Stafford and Kenny Golladay the Detroit Lions lost in a close one to the surprisingly decent Oakland team who are now 4 and 4.

Week 10 Games

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders (TNF)

RUSH

Chris Carson - SEA

Mike Evans - TB

12 REC, 180 YDS, 1 TD

The Seattle Seahawks relied on another terrific game from their MVP caliber quarterback in Russell Wilson. He threw for 378 yards and 5 touchdown passes. Chris Carson kept the Seahawks rolling on the ground attack as he topped 100 yards rushing. The Seattle Seahawks will be tested next week when they face the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers witnessed a great performance from their star receiver Mike Evans as he had 180 yards and a touchdown, but it was not enough to catch the high powered offense of the Seahawks.

Week 10 Games

Arizona Cardinals at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (MNF)

FINAL

Browns (2-6, 2-3 Away) 19

Broncos (3-6, 2-3 Home) 24

RUSH

Phillip Lindsay - DEN

9 CAR, 92 YDS, 1 TD

REC

Noah Fant - DEN

3 REC, 115 YDS, 1 TD

With Joe Flacco out due to injury the Denver Broncos relied on Brandon Allen to guide them to win from the quarterback position, and he did just that. The Cleveland Browns continued to disappoint with another below average performance from their talent loaded offense. The Browns have a lot to work on as Baker Mayfield continues to struggle along with Odell Beckham Jr. Cleveland needs to make some changes and game plan better if they want to beat the 6 and 2 Buffalo Bills next week.

Week 10 Games

Denver Broncos – Bye Week

Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns

FINAL

Packers (7-2, 3-1 Away) 11

Chargers (4-5, 2-3 Home) 26

RUSH

Melvin Gordon - LAC

20 CAR, 80 YDS, 2 TD

REC

Mike Williams - LAC

3 REC, 111 YDS

The Los Angeles Chargers completely dominated the Green Bay Packers last Sunday. Their defense held Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to only 11 points and very few total yards. Melvin Gordon had a great game with his 2 rushing touchdowns. We will see how the Packers respond when they play the Carolina Panthers next week as they try to get back on the right path. The Los Angeles Chargers are not a very good team, but they have now won a couple games in a row so it will be interested to see how they match up against the Oakland Raiders this Thursday Night Football game on a short week.

Week 10 Games

Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders (TNF)

Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers

FINAL

Patriots (8-1, 4-1 Away) 20

Lamar Jackson had a very strong game as he gave the New England Patriots all they could handle on Sunday Night Football. The Patriots offense struggled to score points, and the Baltimore Ravens defense played well and even scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery. The New England team is no longer undefeated as the Baltimore Ravens tore them up last weekend. The Ravens may be a contender in the AFC if they play like this every week moving forward.

Week 10 Games

New England Patriots – Bye Week

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

FINAL

Cowboys (5-3, 2-2 Away) 37

Giants (2-7, 1-4 Home) 18

Amari Cooper - DAL

4 REC, 80 YDS, 1 TD

The Dallas Cowboys tossed around the New York Giants in the second half of this Monday Night Football match up. Just take a look at the statistics above and you will see how the Dallas Cowboys put together a nice win against the NY team. I thought the Giants did a great job tonight, and they had a chance to win it until the fourth quarter when their offense was nonexistent toward the end of the game.

Week 10 Games

New York Giants at New York Jets

Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys (SNF)
