Rocket Dice

Introduction

Rocket Dice is a simple dice game created by BGaming. The player may bet whether the roll of two dice will be under or over any total from 3 to 11. Ties lose. There is also an optional fair double or nothing game after a win.

Rules

  1. Two ordinary six-sided dice are used.
  2. The player may bet whether the next roll will be over or under any total from 3 to 11. The win depends on the bet, as shown in the table below.
  3. Ties lose.
  4. If the player wins, then he may play a double or nothing game based on the roll of one die. In this game, the player picks any three faces and wins if the roll matches one of the numbers picked. Wins pay even money.
  5. The player may keep playing the double or nothing game up to some unknown maximum bet.

The following table shows what all initial bets pay. Wins shown are on a "for one" basis.

My analysis of the double or nothing game is simple, the player has a 50% chance to double his money, for an expected return of 100%.

Strategy

On the initial roll, the best bet is a tie between under 4, over 4, under 10, and over 10, at an expected return of 98.33% each.

For the same reason I recommend taking the odds bet in craps, I would recommend making the double or nothing bet as many times as you are comfortable with. The more you double, the greater the combined return is.
