Pharaoh's Roulette

Introduction

Pharaoh's Roulette is a set of five side bets. It was seen at the Sahara in Las Vegas in October, 2025.

Triple Zero Analysis

At the Sahara, it was found on both double-zero and triple-zero roulette wheels. The game groups the numbers into five groups, with a bet available on each one. The following table shows the five bets available on the triple-zero wheel. Note that a triple-zero is a push on Cobra, Scorpion and Chetah bets.

Bet Numbers 000
King 00,000,2,4,15,19,21,32 Win
Queen 0,000,3,7,12,26,28,35 Win
Cobra 6,11,13,17,25,27,34,36 Push
Scorpion 1,9,14,18,20,22,29,31 Push
Cheetah 5,8,10,16,23,24,30,33 Push

The following table shows my analysis of each bet.

Bet Winning
Numbers
Probability
Win
Probability
Push
Expected
Return
King 8 0.205128 0.000000 -0.179487
Queen 8 0.205128 0.000000 -0.179487
Cobra 8 0.205128 0.025641 -0.153846
Scorpion 8 0.205128 0.025641 -0.153846
Cheetah 8 0.205128 0.025641 -0.153846

To summarize, the house edge is 17.95% on the King and Queen bets and 15.38% on the Cobra, Scorpion and Cheetah. These should be compared to the 7.89% on all bets in triple-zero roulette. My advice is rather than make these bets is to bet each number in the group individually. Compared to the total bet amount across all eight numbers, it will be equivalent to a win of 3.5 to 1, as opposed to the 3 to 1 offered on the Pharaoh's Bets.

Double Zero Analysis

What I hear about the double-zero version is there are still five bets with eight numbers in each bet. Two numbers are common to two bets. I do not know which two, but tend to suspect the zero and double-zero.

With no triple-zero push, the probability of winning on each bet is 8/38 =~ 21.05%. The win is still 3 to 1. That comes to a house edge of 15.79%. Compare that to the 5.26% house edge on all other bets in double-zero roulette (except the 0-001-2-3 combination at 7.89%). Again, my advice if you're tempted to make one of the Pharaoh's Bets, bet on each number in the group individually, for a net win of 3.5 to 1.
