Introduction

   

6 Card Poker 1-2-5 is a poker variation by Gamesys N.V. It is very closely related to Lunar Poker.

Rules

 

1. The game is played using one 52-card deck. The game uses standard poker rules for ranking and comparing hands.
2. The player places a mandatory Ante wager.
3. The player may optionally make a Bonus bet, based on the poker value of his own five cards.
4. Each player and the dealer are dealt five cards, with one dealer card face up.
5. The must decide to Fold, Raise, Buy, or Draw. Following are more details on each option:
   • Fold: The player places his five cards face down near their Ante wager. The dealer will collect the losing Ante and the cards.
   • Raise: The player places a wager of 2x his Ante. This option is called simply "Bet" in the game interface.
   • Buy: The player pays a fee equal to his Ante to buy a sixth Card.
   • Exchange: The player pays a fee equal to his Ante to exchange one, two, or all five cards.
6. If the player invoked either the Buy or Exchange option, then he must then decide to Fold or Play based on his new hand.
7. The dealer then opens his cards and declares the poker value of his hand.
8. The dealer shall need a pair of twos or better to qualify.
9. If the dealer does not qualify, then the player may choose to exchange the highest dealer card with a random card. The fee to do this is equal to the Ante bet. To invoke this option, click the Ante wager. When ready, click the "go on" button.
10. If the player invoked the dealer exchange option, and the dealer still doesn't qualify after the exchange, then the player will lose his Ante wager (ouch!) and the Raise will push.
11. If the dealer doesn't qualify and the player did not invoke the exchange option, then the Ante will pay even money and the Raise will push.
12. Otherwise, the dealer will then open and settle each player's hand as follows:
    • Player wins: Ante pays even money and Raise is paid according to pay table below.
    • Tie: Both Ante and Raise push.
    • Dealer wins: Both Ante and Raise lose.

   

At Betvoyager, where I saw this game, there player may bet up to four spots. However, to avoid collusion, the player must play the third and fourth hands blind. This means the player is forced to Raise on the third and fourth hands, if made.

Analysis

 

In my opinion, this game, along with Lunar Poker, would be the hardest casino game to analyze. I didn't analyze Lunar Poker myself and neither will I attempt to do this game.

I can say the game maker claims this game has a zero house edge. However, they claim that about many other games that still retain a small dealer advantage, according to my math. To invoke any "zero house edge" game by Gamesys, the player must pay a 10% commission on any net gambling win per session. A "session" ends after a period of non-activity of an hour or 24 hours, whichever happens first.

As a feeble cop out, I will offer my analysis of the Bonus bet.
