Introduction

Gamzix is an Estonian private limited company (OÜ) and casino game development studio founded in 2020. The company rapidly expanded and set up shop in other countries including Ukraine where the founder has sports and business ties. In just a few short years the team launched over 60 titles - each one is recognizable by high-quality graphics, sharp animation, and great audio elements. So far, the developer’s focus has been entirely on slots with the exception of one crash game concept, Pilot which comes in a couple of skin variants. The company’s game engine is at the heart of its development efforts and gives consistent results and the ability to meet its roadmap, putting out a game each month on average.

The RNG is certified by iTech Labs and has been tested and approved by GLI and the Gambling Business Monitoring Center (Belarus) in the past.

By the end of 2023, Gamzix had doubled its staff from the previous year to around 50 specialists reinforcing its capabilities in game production and opening new frontiers in player engagement.

Their slots combine high-quality mathematics with polished design acumen to create a very playable experience for online gamblers. More than just top-tier slot games they have also developed in-game tournaments and achievement competitions. Players get to test their skills against others and win prize money. These tournaments are fully integrated into the games and that gives players instant notifications when an event starts along with real-time standings to keep track of scores. It’s pretty much a hands-free element for online operators that helps them engage players and retain them - of course, it makes many players happy too.

The Gamzix vision seems to be pretty straightforward and as far as we can see, they nail it with every release. While certain games will appeal to some players more than others, the art, animation, and maths create great slots that stand out. Gamzix appears to have quickly carved out a niche for itself in a highly competitive market and that shows that quality and consistency can still be a winning formula.

Slots

Gamzix’s ‘Bonus Game’ mechanic is used in over 20 games. It can add depth by serving up rounds with unique plot twists, increased win chances, and even Jackpots. The main bonus mechanic found in the majority of their slots is the “Hold the Spin” feature. When you land six or more bonus symbols in the base game or free spins you’ll have access to respins, in-game jackpots, and multipliers up to x5000. Some of the games offer unique twists with special bonus symbols and “Collectors” that increase winning potential.

The RTP is given in the game sheets and is usually presented as a range. Some of the volatility info doesn’t remain constant between the official sheets and the initial splash info with some games showing four out of five stars while later simply using the words, “medium volatility”.

Samba Stars: Hold the Spin

RTP – 94%/95%/96%

This game brings a bit of Brazil’s Carnival to the slot reels, with a colorful 5x3 reel setup and 20 fixed paylines. Set against a backdrop inspired by Samba dancers, the game uses a mix of symbols, including high and low pays, Wilds, Scatters, and Bonus icons. The main character icons are Samba dancers. The RTP ranges from 94% to 96%, and the game’s medium-to-high volatility gives players a fair chance at a decent win. The top payout is 5000x bet.

The game has a few features to keep it interesting. The Bonus Game is triggered when six or more Bonus symbols land. That launches a Hold and Spin round. Here, players start with three spins that reset whenever a new Bonus symbol lands, staying locked in position for the round. The feature can award Mini, Minor, and Major Jackpots, and filling all 15 positions awards the Grand Jackpot of 5000x bet.

The basic Free Spins bonus is triggered by 3 or more scatters. The spins come with a Wild Multiplier for much bigger potential wins. Spins can be triggered again with just two scatters awarding 3 more - the more you land the more spins you’ll get added to the meter. Samba Stars also has a Heap of Stars feature to boost your chance of entering the Bonus round.

Egypt Sphere: Hold the Spin

RTP – 92%/94%/95%/96%,

Egypt Sphere: Hold the Spin brings the mysteries of ancient Egypt to a 5-reel, 4-row slot setup with 40 fixed paylines. Look for a good mix of high-paying and low-paying symbols along with Wilds, Scatters, and four Jackpot symbols. Wins can run from 1x to 16x bet. Landing six or more Bonus symbols anywhere on the reel triggers the bonus game where most of the money lies. Start with three spins and every time you land news symbols the respin meter will reset.

This feature gets more interesting as the Expand symbols add up to two more rows, expanding from a 5x4 reel set with 20 reel positions up to 5x6 with ten added reel stops. Each expanded row has special symbols for bigger payouts and only holds high-value symbols (10x to 16x bet) like Bonus multipliers, Collect, Payer, and Jackpot symbols on row five, but on the sixth row you’ll also see Jackpot symbols. The Payer symbol increases winnings from all bonus symbols on the screen. The potential for a maximum win of 5000x your bet comes with the Grand Jackpot but that symbol will only be found on the 6th row.

The slot is medium-high volatility and comes in a range of RTP options for the operator between 92% and 96%.

Conclusion

Gamzix has an interesting mix of slots including three-reel 27 ways and 5x3 10-line games based on the “Book of” modality. While many of the bonus features are very similar from title to title there’s enough variation in them to keep it interesting such as when they add extra rows with special symbols as the bonus game progresses. Dozens of developers have added the “hold and win” feature (by any other name) to their games and some have pulled it off better than others. While the craze will pass, these titles will remain in the legacy portfolio of some bigger operators and will probably always have a following.
