Introduction

Platipus is an online casino game developer that was founded in 2014 and is based out the United Kingdom. The company specializes in both social and real money online casino games, with many of the group’s games having been deployed through social media sites like Facebook.

To date, Platipus has put out more than 30 slot games with an array of different themes and features available for each. The group also released blackjack and baccarat in 2019. Their web site says that roulette is "combing soon."

With an overall solid platform, Platipus has designed a slew of games that are both exciting and fair to play.

Many slot games are available to play for free on the Platipus Gaming web site, where I got these screenshots from. The graphics and sound are competitive with other companies in that space.

I could find the return percentage listed in the help file for one game only, Magical Mirror at 95.02%.

Baccarat

Mini Baccarat

Both baccarat games follow the standard rules with a 5% commission on Banker bets and the Tie pays 8 to 1. No side bets.

Blackjack

Both blackjack games seem to have the following rules:

  • Six decks
  • Dealer stands on soft 17
  • Dealer does not peek at hole card. If the dealer gets a blackjack with a 10 face up, then the player will lose only the original wager. However, if the dealer gets a blackjack with an ace face up, then the player will lose all money bet, including on doubles and splits.*
  • Double after split allowed
  • Player may split once only
  • No surrender

According to my blackjack house edge calculator and list of rule variations, the house edge is 0.47%. This is contrary to the 2.67% claimed in the help files.

Following is the basic strategy under the Platipus rules. Click on image for a larger version.

Notes:
* The rules table does not support the Platipus rule of effectively only peeking under a 10. Since the 10 is the more valuable card to peek under, I chose to answer peek question as "yes."

The following table shows the Blackjack games available in alphabetical order.
