Texas Draw ( a new version of Texas Hold'em) | Video Interview

Hi. I'm Mike Shackleford with The Wizards of Odds, and I am at the 2017 cutting edge table games conference at the Paris Casino in Las Vegas, and I am joined by Bobby Jones the chief executive officer of Score Gaming. He is here with his new game, Texas Draw. Thanks very much, Bobby.

Texas Draw

Can you tell me more about the game?

[00:00:31] Bobby Jones: Sure.

Texas Draw is our version of Texas Hold'em okay. We've taken the original game and added a draw feature to it with a couple of side bets.

Very fun to play and the draw feature is what makes this game very exciting for the players.

[00:00:45] Michael: All right.

Sounds a little bit like Pineapple.

[00:00:48] Bobby: It is like Pineapple.

The only difference between Pineapple and our game is:

Pineapple you draw a card after the flop. In our game, you're going to draw a card after the river.

[00:00:58] Michael: All right I'm intrigued.

May I play a few hands?

[00:01:00] Bobby: Absolutely, let's have at it.

[00:01:01] Michael: Thank you.

[00:01:04] Dealer: All righty.

All bets are in?

Each player gets two cards. The dealer will give himself two, put the flop, turn river, okay.

For the flop, we're looking for a pair or better. There was not one so we will take that bet down. Now you have the option to bet either one or two times your ante. [pause 00:01:33]

Texas Draw

All right, so now we will do the turn river. There's a pair of seven's on the board. Now you have the option to either fold or you can stay and put one times your ante, and you also have the option to take a draw.

You're good with your two cards?

[00:02:00] Bobby: I am thank you.

[00:02:13] Dealer: You're good with your two cards on both?

[00:02:14] Bobby: I am sir

[00:02:15] Dealer: You're folding?

[00:02:22] Bobby: [unintelligible 00:02:22] stay or draw.

[00:02:24] Michael: Should I draw first or bet first?

[00:02:26] Dealer: Okay.

So you're going to match your ante, and then you're going to discard the one that you would like to throw. Okay. You can put your card there. I'll put your card there.

The dealer has two pair. Dealer always qualifies, and he stands on three of a kind or better. Since I only have two pair I will take a draw. I only have ten's and seven's with a jack.

The blind bet gets paid on your original two cards and starts with a three of a kind. Because you didn't have that I will take it. Sorry. Ten's and seven's.

All right. Hopefully, you have something good here, you stayed with it.

[00:03:07] Bobby: I do.

[00:03:10] Dealer: What do we have here?

A little straight. A straight pays four to one and beats the dealer. Okay.

We're good with that one? Oops, I'm sorry. Okay. Let's do the whole thing again.

[00:03:40] Bobby: All right.

[00:03:41] Dealer: So you have a straight which gets paid four to one, and the straight beats the dealer's two pair, so everything gets paid.

You must have another good hand.

[00:03:55] Bobby: The other side of the straight.

[00:03:56] Dealer: Nice. Once again it gets paid four to one and it beats the dealers two pair.

[00:04:13] Booby: Play one more hand?

Texas Draw

[00:04:14] Michael: May I play another?

[00:04:16] Dealer: Absolutely. Here we go. There was no flop bonus. Now you get to bet either one or two times.

[00:04:46] Michael: Got pocket fours so I'm going to do the two times.

[00:04:49] Dealer: Okay.

[00:04:51] Michael: I don't know what's right but I'm just going to do one time.

[00:04:55] Dealer: Okay.

[00:04:59] Bobby: Worked out.

[00:04:59] Dealer: Worked out. [laughs] Now you go one time your ante, and you have the option to draw a card.

[00:05:05] Michael: Right.

[00:05:07] Dealer: You fold?

[00:05:07] Bobby:  Yes sir.

[00:05:08] Dealer: Okay.

[00:05:11] Bobby: Okay. Right here.

[00:05:13] Dealer: Okay.

[00:05:14] Bobby: I take a card, please.

[00:05:20] Dealer: Sir?

[00:05:20] Michael: Ten points to--

[00:05:22] Dealer: You go one times your ante

[00:05:24] Michael: I'm sorry.

[00:05:25] Dealer: That's okay.

Discard this one?

[00:05:27] Michael: Yes.

[00:05:27] Dealer: Okay. Put your card there.

[00:05:35] Michael: Discard this one.

[00:05:35] Dealer: Okay. Go ahead and put your hand down, thank you. Dealer has queen high with the nine, hit.

Dealer has a pair of deuces. Pair of queens. You don't win the blind bet because you didn't have three of a kind or better but you beat the dealer.

Once again take the blind bet, and you beat the dealer. Two pair, and you beat the dealer.

[00:06:35] Michael: Okay. I think I understand it. Texas Draw good game.

[00:06:37] Dealer: Any questions?

[00:06:37] Michael: Thank you. No questions at all.

[00:06:40] Dealer: Thank you for playing.

[00:06:41] Michael: Okay. Thanks very much, Bobby. I look forward to seeing this in the casino soon.

[00:06:45] Bobby: We sure hope so, and we're hoping to score well here in this competition. Thank you.

[00:06:50] Michael: You're welcome. Bye, everybody.
