Normally in full pay deuces wild video poker when the player has the choice of keeping either (1) suited 10 and king with straight penalty card, and (2) nothing, the best play is to discard everything. For example take thefollowing hand:

Normally in situations like this the best play is to discard everything because of 9 reduces the probability of forming a straight. However this particular play is one of the exceptions, and it is better to keep the 2 to a royalflush, king high, despite the 9 straight penalty card.Following is a list of all such exceptions. The exceptionsare first listed according to the straight penalty card(either 9 or ace) and how the three other cards are suitedwith each other. Then the excpetions are subgrouped by whichcard is suited with the king. Finally two card combinationsare listed in which the player should keep the two suitedhigh cards.
