Ask the Wizard!

Please read carefully

This is the forum to ask questions that will be suitable for the "Ask the Wizard" column. In other words, the general public should find the question interesting, not just you. I have three young children and a hefty mortgage, so please respect my time. In particlar, please follow these guidelines.

  • Do not ask questions already answered on the site.
  • I do not answer questions about betting systems. All betting systems are equally worthless.
  • I'm open to a good math puzzle, but if you need help with your math homework then please hire a tutor.
  • The shorter your question is, the greater the probability of getting an answer.
  • Please ask just one question at a time.
  • Please do not ask about some unlikely event you observed, like x wins/losses in a row, or some bad beat you took in poker. I have answered enough for these for a lifetime already.
  • Any question submitted may be used in the Ask the Wizard column.
  • If I do answer, that does not entitle you to hit reply and ask a dozen new questions. If you want to ask another question, come back here and wait your turn.

If you've read all that, then you can proceed to:

Ask the Wizard

If you find a mistake on the web site, or have something urgent to tell me (not ask me), please visit my contact page, for priority handling.

1. I already looked for the answer in the FAQ and in previous Ask the Wizard columns.

2. My question is not about a betting system.

3. I understand that due to the volume of questions, most questions are not answered.

4. If I get an answer I will not follow up with unrelated questions or stories.

5. My question may be used in the Ask the Wizard column.

6. I have answered this question correctly. (Answer BEFORE checking!)       x =
