Outstanding Promotion

Most casinos don't offer promotions this good so when they do I make it a point to let you know about them. Brandy Casino rebates 100% of losses in the first three hours of play, up to $500. If you play it right the expected value approaches 100%. For more details visit the bonuses section of my website.

Second City (Flamingo Hilton)

It has been a long time since I've done a show review so to make up for it I'm going to do two of them this issue.

This is billed as "the show that inspired Saturday Night Live." The original Second City comedy club in Chicago featured many comedians who went onto SNL. The Flamingo Las Vegas features its own club modeled after the one in Chicago. I saw the show with someone who has been to the Chicago club and said it was much the same and just as good.

The thrust of the Second City show is improvisational comedy. Five comedians act out many short skits. Some were rehearsed and others are based on audience suggestions. There are other skits based on the game of charades. This is unlike any comedy I have seen before. If you want a change from stand up comedy this will be a pleasant change of pace. It was at times remarkable how the actors came up with a skit to tie together subject matter from the audience. Two for one coupons do exist for this show but are not plentiful. My grade is a B+. Tickets are $29.95 plus tax. Show times are Thursday to Tuesday at 8:00, plus a 10:30 show on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tournament of Kings (Excalibur)

When 2 for 1 coupons appeared in the newspaper for Nevada residents I finally went to see this longtime show. This is a dinner show where everybody is served the same Cornish hen meal. No silverware is provided so bring your own if you must. The plot of the show is hard to follow but I think the king dies and about eight knights compete to be the new king in a series of contests, including a lot of jousting. Then the winner faces an evil magician or something like that. This was the part where I got confused about what was going on. I would have liked the show better if it was more of a variety show and not so dark and serious. I took my six year old daughter and she was scared almost to the point of tears at all the loud noises and pyrotechnics. So be warned before bringing young children. My grade is a C. The food was pretty good, so it is almost like getting the show for free. Tickets are $43.95 plus tax. Show times are 6:00 and 8:30 nightly. (more info)

Big sports line movement

In other news I witnessed the biggest line movement I have ever seen today. Bet on Sports is offering the following props on the Panthers/Eagles game this Sunday:

Osama Bin Laden will make an appearance

+15000

Elvis Presley will sing at Half Time

+15000

Monica Lewinsky will be seated next to Bill Clinton

+15000

A Playboy model will run naked on the field

+1000

Saddam Hussein will sing the National Anthem

+15000

What is remarkable is the odds on the Playboy bet were +15000 yesterday, dropping to +1000 today. Perhaps a bunny got word of this and bet on herself. They take up to $500 on the props so a max bet would have paid $75,000. She could have also let some friends in on it. Although I didn't bet on it I'm pulling for her.

The Wizard's bonus recommendation: Brandy Casino rebates 100% of losses in the first three hours of play, up to $500. (more)

I'll be in Reno the 23rd to 25th. It has been over three years since my last visit there. I'll let you know if I find anything interesting my next newsletter.

Finally, my webmaster Michael Bluejay insists that I tell you that if you tried to sign up for his Car-Free World newsletter mentioned in the last Wizard's News and had problems, he fixed the problem and you should be able to subscribe now. By the way, the legendary Jean Scott (The Frugal Gambler) picked up Bluejay's article from the Wizard's News and ran it in her Frugal Fridays column at the Las Vegas Advisor

That's all. Until next time, set your expectations high.
