Net Entertainment software review

The following rules are based on those found at the Cherry Casino. I played there in October 2003. The software is Java, allowing immediately play, either for money or fun. The graphics are nice and to the point. The game speed is fast for Java and the controls are easy to understand. This review shall be for what I call "version 2." In the unlikely event any casino is using version 1 I have the old review here.

Baccarat

• Banker: 1.06%
• Player: 1.24%
• Tie: 14.36%

Blackjack

There are four blackjack games to choose from as follows.

• 4 decks, 1 spot, $1-$40 limits
• 4 decks, 1 spot, $10-$400 limits
• 4 decks, 3 spots, $1-$40 limits
• 4 decks, 3 spots, $5-$500 limits

The other rules for all tables are as follows.

• Dealer stands on soft 17
• Player may double on any first two cards
• Player may double after splitting
• Player may split only once
• Dealer always peeks under ten and ace, exposing a blackjack before player's turn

The house edge in all games is 0.40%.

The following basic strategy chart may be used, which I developed for other software brands.

Caribbean Stud Poker

The standard rules are followed, except a royal flush pays 200 instead of 100 to 1. Cryptologic follows the same pay table. The house edge is normally 5.22% but the extra 100 on the royal drops it to 5.21%.

There is also a progressive side bet. On October 31, 2003 the meter was at $19517.25 for a house edge of 58.06%. At any given time the house edge is 63.76% less 2.92% for every $10,000 in the meter. For the side bet to have no house edge it would have to be $218,047.37.

Casino Hold 'Em

Net Entertainment is the only software to offer Casino Hold 'Em. They follow the 100/20/10/3/2/1 ante pay table for a house edge of 2.16%. On the side bet they follow the 25/7 pay table for a 6.40% house edge. Please see my section on Casino Hold 'Em for the details on this game.

Craps

Three times odds are allowed. If the player bets on the don't pass or don't come the odds he may lay are correctly relative to the win (a rule few Internet casinos get right). Taking full odds the overall house edge on the pass and come is 0.471% and on the don't pass and don't come is 0.341%.

Keno

Net Entertainment offers competitive keno odds. The player may choose from 2 to 10 numbers. A 10 number quick pick button is available. The bet range is $1-$5. The expected return ranges from 94.35% with 3 numbers to 96.20% with 2 numbers. The following table shows the expected return for all number of marks from 2 to 10.

Let it Ride

The standard rules are followed. House edge is 3.51%.

Pai Gow Poker

The player never banks. A2345 is the second highest straight. The suggested low card hand is conveniently raised automatically, although the player may choose any cards he likes. The house edge is 2.85%. The Fortune side bet is also available but without other players to get the envy bonus. The house edge on the side bet is 7.86%.

Roulette

A single zero wheel is used. House edge of 2.70%.

Scratch & Win

I'm told by Net Entertainment that the expected return is 95%.

Video Poker

Net Entertainment offers some unusual pay tables in video poker. Here they are with the associated expected returns assuming optimal strategy. The best game is Jacks or Better at 99.5599%.
