Reason #5 why the Wizard likes Bodog:
Intelligent Bonuses
Many online casinos offer huge signup bonuses, but there's a catch. Buried in the fine print is that play on the most popular games doesn't count towards earning the bonus. It's common for blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, and Jacks or Better to be excluded. Sometimes everything except slots.
And that's if you can even find the terms and conditions. Many casinos put their 100% bonus in big flaming letters but make you hunt all over the site to find the rules.
But Bodog allows play on all games to count towards the wagering requirement. It's that simple. Just no opposite betting. All casinos ought to be as easy as Bodog about this. The bonus offer itself is simple too: on your first deposit, they'll give you an extra 10%. If you deposit $100, you'll wind up with $110 in chips or tokens.
Finally, in the unlikely event that Bodog feels you've been abusing their bonuses they won't seize your winnings, like some other casinos. In the worst case scenario they will politely tell you that they will not be offering you any future bonuses but you are welcome to keep playing and keep everything you have made already. Last Update: June 23, 2001
|
The following rules are based on those found at the Cherry Casino. I played there in June and July of 2001 for this review. The software is Java, allowing immediately play, either for money or fun. The graphics are nice and to the point. The game speed is fast for Java and the controls are easy to understand.
Unlike most online casinos you have to pay for a bank draft ($20) but a wire transfer is free. It is not clear how to make a withdrawl for less than the deposit.
Blackjack
There are two blackjack games available. At the low limit table the player may play up to three hands at $1-$40 each. At the high limit table the player may play one spot only at $10-$400. The rules for both tables are as follows:
- 4 decks
- Dealer stands on soft 17
- Player may double on any first two cards
- Player may double after splitting
- Player may split only once
- Dealer always peeks under ten and ace, exposing a blackjack before player's turn
The house edge under these rules is 0.40%.
Keno
InstaPlay offers some of the bets keno odds I have ever seen. The player may choose from 2 to 10 numbers. A 10 number quick pick button is available. The bet range is $1-$5. The expected return ranges from 94.35% with 3 numbers to 96.20% with 2 numbers. The following table shows the expected return for all number of marks from 2 to 10.
| InstaPlay Keno |
| Marks |
Return |
| 2 | 96.20% |
| 3 | 94.35% |
| 4 | 95.13% |
| 5 | 95.24% |
| 6 | 95.29% |
| 7 | 95.38% |
| 8 | 95.53% |
| 9 | 95.58% |
| 10 | 95.29% |
Roulette
A single zero wheel is used, for a house edge of 2.70%.
Scratch & Win
This is a scratch card game. I have no information on the return.
Slots
There are five slot machines to choose from. These include two single line, 3 reels machines; one five reel, 5 line; one five reel, nine line, and a three reel one line Wheel of Fortune type machine. Unlike all other slots I have seen the pay table is not relative to the number of coins but the actual win in dollars and cents. All games are 25 cent machines, although depending on the game the player may bet up to 90 coins. I have no information on the return of these games.
Video Poker
Two jacks or better formats are available, single play and triple play. The player may only play for quarters, up to $1.25 on the single play and $9.00 on the triple play.
Following is the pay table for the single play machine per coin, based on the maximum of five coins played. The return of this pay table is 91.60% with optimal strategy.

| Full house | 6 |
| Flush | 5 |
| Straight | 4 |
| Three of a kind | 3 |

The triple play machine, or Three Hands Poker as they call it, offers much better odds. Following is the pay table for the triple play machine per coin, based on the maximum of 36 coins played. The return of this pay table is 98.41% with optimal strategy.
